Given the opportunity to be a part of a school in which I am able to earn experience in the field I plan on being employed in my long-term is an unbelievably interesting and productive use of my time, while also participating in the public education system. Being an architecture student at Construction Careers Academy has been inevitably intriguing for someone as young as myself to be partaking in, with the aspirations I have for myself in the future. A concept I find myself pondering very frequently is how my current education will compare to that of someone who has just entered a college education; how much will I be ahead having the experience early on that other students don’t- and this kind of thinking, in my opinion, can only be a sign of a hopefully very exceptional future.

Throughout middle school, I always knew I was interested in construction, but I didn’t know if a construction related career was for me. Going into the architecture program at Construction Careers Academy, I immediately realized that I had a passion for the career. Architecture combines math and art in an innovative way, allowing me to express my creativity and back it up with facts and numbers. However, despite my passion in my course.

I still faced challenges in preparing for my future, but when faced with hardships, I chose to overcome them and learn from my struggles. One of the most valuable lessons I have learned is the importance of an adaptable leader. As plans, codes, and requirements change, I have to be able to adapt and conquer, creating a design my whole team can feel proud of. Knowing this, as well as many other lessons, I can confidently say that I feel more ready for a college education and later on a career. My exploration in my construction program has showed me that I have the talent and dedication it takes to actually pursue a career field that I love, transforming my interest into a reality.

The opportunity of studying at Construction Careers Academy has been the highlight of my life. Throughout my learning experience, I have been taught personal and workplace skills, which has groomed my future goal of becoming a project manager. With starting out not knowing how to read a measuring tape to now estimating, scheduling and building a tiny home, this has prepared me to be confident when I finish high school and start pursuing a degree in Construction Science while hopefully working with a construction company. Nothing can compare to learning about construction in high school than going to a high school that specializes in construction.
